7 Things to Consider Before Going On A Cabin Break

Even just two days away from your regular routine can help you forget about all the sources of stress you face every day.

Whether you’re heading somewhere local or you’re traveling across the world, you need to be prepared as much as you possibly can; so your getaway doesn’t turn into a nightmare. During this pandemic all I have been doing is “work work, work”; therefore,I decided to plan this cabin getaway in the middle of the week and it felt great. In this post is I will share  all things you need to consider for your cabin trip From choosing the location, time ,budget and much more.

Here are the 7 things to consider before going on a cabin break.

First thing first is Your  Budget.
Many of you may have not booked a mini vacation in years because you think it will cost an arm and a leg, even if it’s local. For any getaway, you will definitely need a bit of money. Assess  your budget and create a list of the different places you can go for the low. Also, be mindful to include, gas, food, tip, and  cash as part of your budget.

Location.

It is very important to consider the area you would like to stay in. Location plays a major part since it will cost more to travel out of town or state. An out of state cabin for instance might require a rental car or plane ticket.
In addition, do you prefer to stay somewhere rural or have easy access to things ?  Is it safe, can you go alone or rather with family? The choice is all yours, but definitely research everything before you go.

What People Are Saying?

I have been to a hotel before and I had to check out within minutes of arrival. It is very crucial to know if others have enjoyed their stay. You may not find everything to be perfect but make sure it’s not something that will make you regret every penny you’ve spent.

When Do You Want To Go?
Yeeaahhh, IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING!!!! Now that you have the money and location picked up, it’s now time to decide when is the right time to go. Me personally, I prefer a cabin trip during the Spring and early Summer (Not too hot , not too cold). I haven’t been during the Winter , so can’t really say much.  However, the beauty of cabin vacations is that they’re suitable for all seasons, so it is completely up to you.

Will you go alone or with guest?
Why it is important?  That will determine the room size, the amount of beds, and money of course. When you get to your locations you will see all the things you want to try and your guest or kids will do to.
Also, not everyone is good with sharing; therefore, it is important to plan accordingly.
And if you are going SOLO, perfect!!! This is a great time to reconnect with yourself and strengthen your inner peace because dealing with craziness everyday at work or with family members can drive nuts.

How long will you be staying ?
This is like any typical out of town vacation, whether it’s a solo trip, a couple weekend getaway or family vacay. When you know how long you’ll be staying, you know what to bring and how much money, clothes to bring or food if restaurants aren’t nearby. Don’t forget to pack your first aid kit, NSAIDs , flashlight, portable charger etc… in case of emergency.

Ladies, I know we bring more than we should, I’m guilty of this and I’m trying to do better lol.

Planning Activities

Yeah, some of you may like to find out once you get there but honestly, the activities are what drawn you to the  location in the first place.  For me, planning some activities   in advance always help so I know what to pack and avoid unnecessary spending.

Any recommendations? Please let us know in the comments.

Two Ways to Style a Long Sleeve Jacket for The Holidays

Two ways to wear a long sleeve jacket for the holiday

The holiday season is in full swing and I’m seizing every opportunity to dress up this holiday; either for a brunch, family dinner or a holiday party. I’ve missed a lot of holidays as a nurse and never get to dress up or get cute when everyone else is celebrating.
There has been quite a few changes in my career, permitting me to spend more times with my friends and family and get to dress up a little more.

I picked up this mustard jacket with gold button at Ross just a couple days before Thanksgiving, and it goes perfectly with red, blue, emerald, yellow or brown. You can creatively pair and wear it for brunch, dinner or meeting.

Option 1: Brunch Idea

For my ‘Werk Pray Slay’  brunch ,I used this navy blue with red stripe pants from Ross, pair it with a white tank top and put on this great pair of red heels from Goodwill. Yes girl, you heard that right! Dress for less and still be looking good. If you wear jewelry, you can add these little extras like I did.

Option 2: Thanksgiving  or Christmas Dinner

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite dinner to go to, at least for the food. And a short dress or rumper is one of my go-to pieces for creating a festive but casual look without breaking the bank.

During Friendsgiving with my friends, I can always remove my jacket, sit on the floor playing UNO, and get comfy.  Now, this cute romper with the same mustard jacket is just right for Atlanta weather.

The weather can be in high 30s and low 60s for the most part; therefore, a nice pair of boots will do the work.  Black and gold have always been my favorites fancy combinations until I started wearing mustard. Surprisingly, prints fabrics are not usually my favorite; however,  I am so obsessed with this romper.

This little romper is not really over the top. It’s very casual, festive and fancy and will work for any holiday… Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, and more!

I found most of my items at Ross; but the fact that they don’t have an online store, I can’t attach any  links to this post. The good news is, I was able to come up with a list on where to get  similar items at a discounted price.

In Atlanta? Here Are 30+ Black Owned Restaurants To Give a Try

Are you in town and looking for the next bite? Look no further! These amazing Black Owned Restaurants have all the colorful and well seasoned dishes that every heart and soul desires. And guess what? Most of them deliver!!!

Soooo, below is a list of 30+ restaurants for you to try and don’t worry, I did all the work. All you gotta do is click on the links and you will be directed to their websites.

Well it’s been a year since I’ve moved to Atlanta, I haven’t been to all the restaurants listed below but I am working on it lol.  I just can’t wait to try them all.

Anyways, because of the Coronavirus, some restaurants decided to keep their dining area closed for the safety of their staff and customers even though the State of Georgia is currently open for the most part. For that reason, please call them and ask about their regulations before you take the drive.

Personally, I have only been to a restaurant twice since the pandemic . I do  mostly  “curbside pickup” or “no contact delivery”.

Bottom line is, either you’re new to  Atlanta, have been here more than two decades ago, still in quarantine or couldn’t wait to get out; you gotta give them a try.

How I Saved Over 7K With This One App

Who doesn’t like saving?

Shortly after I pass my nursing exam, with almost no money, no family, but a job; I had got a one way ticket from Miami to Philadelphia.

I started working within a week, since I had a temporary placement for the first two months, I had enough time to look for a much  permanent apartment. And, you all know an apartment comes with down payment, first and last month of rent, furniture, electricity set up etc…Thank God, I had my little side hustle to cover a few bills but it wasn’t much.

Now that my saving almost gone, I had to find a way to save faster and smarter.  One day, I remember seeing a post on Facebook about Digit, just what I needed and I gave it a try. I set up my Digit account, connect it to my bank, created different money goals for different categories and the money  was taken from my bank account every per pay period or after every purchase.

Yesss, I have a saving account with my bank, but the fact that it’s readily available, it was easy for me to make a few transfers and I wasn’t really saving much doing that. Therefore, having an online saving without a physical card or easy transfer was very beneficial.

WHAT IS DIGIT AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Digit is a saving tool that does the thinking and acting of saving money for you without noticing. You simply connect your Digit to your bank account; then the app takes a look at your current funds and puts aside some money in an FDIC-insured Digit account.

When you sign up for Digit, you can create monthly and yearly goals. For instance: Birthdays, Emergency Saving, Rainy Days, Business Expenses and Self Care.  Digit will determine if you can’t spare any money and won’t withdraw anything from your bank account. It will even send you a text message saying:” Due to low balance, it will not take any money”.  The app is free for only 100 days, then becomes $2.99 a month. In addition, It gives you the ability to earn one percent savings bonus that is paid every three months. Let’s say you have an emergency; Digit can automatically transfer back to your checking account whenever it gets below a certain amount or you can text “withdraw” and the amount you choose to withdraw will go back to your bank account.

The good thing is, if you feel like your monthly income for the month is less than usual or may have unexpected emergencies, you can pause and restart the saving app whenever necessary.  You also get money for referring your friends.

Last year, I literally saved all the money to launch my “Dedication Planner” which is a life planner to help healthcare professionals and female entrepreneurs prioritize life goals with proper planning. I also was unemployed for more than two months after leaving my job in Philly to move to Atlanta. With my regular saving account and the one on Digit, I was able to cover two months worth of rent, movers and getting a new place in a whole new state.

Are you considering getting DIGIT? I strongly recommend it because it fits every budget and will make saving so much easier.  I suggest you to give a try. Get access here: Digit

Are you in need of a planner with a saving tracker that helps you manage your different saving account? Stay in touch and get all the details about the upcoming 2021 Dedication Planner. here

4 Benefits of Eucalyptus Leaves

As I was sitting outside drinking my Eucalyptus tea this morning, I thought about sharing some of the amazing health benefits with you. Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree that’s widely used for its medicinal properties. Although, Eucalyptus can be used for many other reasons but more research needs to be done in order to claim that it’s actually working in that particular area.

(As you can see, I chose to blend mine with some peppermint leave)

Eucalyptus may relieve cold symptoms

Eucalyptus is a natural anti-inflammatory agent and it is widely used as a natural cold remedy and is a common ingredient in cold and cough products.

There is a main ingredient responsible for these properties in eucalyptus called eucalyptol, also known as cineole. Research has shown that eucalyptol relieves cold symptoms like cough frequency, nasal congestion, and headache by decreasing inflammation and mucus buildup, asthma and so much more.

However, if you are using eucalyptus oil,   any small amount can be considered as toxic. So, it’s best to consult with your doctor, especially if you’re taking some other medications that are not compatible with.

High in antioxidants

Although you cannot eat fresh, whole eucalyptus leaves, dried leaves can be made into tea. Be sure to choose a tea that’s labeled “eucalyptus leaves tea,” because it can be TOXIC to add eucalyptus essential oil to your tea.

In addition, eucalyptus tea contains flavonoids, which are antioxidants that may lower your risk of certain cancers, heart disease stress, and dementia.

Promote relaxation

Eucalyptus is widely believed to decrease symptoms of stress. If eucalyptus has the ability to decrease heart disease therefore it has its importance in decreasing stress as well. Stress is one of the leading cause of heard disease such as hypertension after all!  Also, the same eucalyptol component from the eucalyptus leaves has been found to possess anti-anxiety properties Want a nice calming effect on your body? Hanging some eucalyptus leaves in your shower can do the trick.

Natural insect repellent

Eucalyptus oil is a natural insect repellent, mainly due to its eucalyptol content once again.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention lists lemon eucalyptus oil  derived from the lemon eucalyptus tree as an approved and powerful bug repellant. Topical application is very effective at warding off mosquitoes and other biting insects for up to eight hours. So, before you go to that mountain trip, camping getaway, don’t forget to add one in your bag.

While eucalyptus leaves are generally recognized as safe, there are some serious health risks associated with consuming eucalyptus oil, as it can lead to toxicity in both adults and children. Again be sure to consult your healthcare provider.

Five Things I had to Learn Before Launching My Planner

You all have seen me sharing my success story about having my planner; the thoughts, the excitement, and process. However today, I want to go deeper by sharing some of the things I did not know as well as things that I had to lean before launching my planners.

First: Finding someone to design it at least the way I wanted it. In all honestly, it was hard because It’s either some were booked, not offering the service or I simply did not like what they were offering. So, It took me a while to actually create the contents.

Second: The cost/production

Shout out to all entrepreneurs that work from 7p to midnight because that money is funding their dream if there’s no business loan. I knew I wanted to create something on the website and the thoughts of creating and receiving the planners happened in the course three months. Meaning , having the money to fund my project as well as patience and sanity.

I ended up paying more in production cost because my planners were custom in term of hard cover page, full color, spiral type etc… In addition, the amount of time for the planners to arrive to the state was ridiculous because they were made in China. And once arrived, I had to wait an extra two weeks since they have to be cleared by US customs.  Now, you may ask why didn’t I get them done in the United states.

Even though, it cost me a little more for the customs planners in China; It would have been extremelyyy expensive to have them done here in the states or Canada. However, I am 100% sure it wouldn’t take that long to receive them. As a result of this whole mess, I had to push my launch date from mid-May to July.

Third: Coaching

Coaching can be within your-contemplation or action phase based on how much knowledge you have on what you  plan on doing . If you know absolutely nothing on how to get started, you probably need it prior starting anything; but if you feel comfortable enough to create your goal and need someone to help you execute? Do your research and find/pay someone to help you make that extra step. Yes, you have to pay for coaching, it’s not free.!!!

Promoting: I am guilty of this sometimes. I watched many live coaching videos within my consistent tribe by Priiincesss and selling on social media boot camp group by Kay Lucas; where there were consistent reminders about sharing your work after you complete project is as much important as working on the project. You technically promote before, during and after.

Celebrate small or big wins.

It is important that you celebrate every moment of your success.  I understand that it may be hard during the stressful process, but you need to celebrate you. Like a jump, happy dance, scream or buy yourself lunch. You deserve it!!! Some day will be better than others, but overall you get to learn every step of the way. This is what keeps you going after all.

Now, if you have purchased one of my planners, I personally want to hear from you. It will mean so much to me to know how can I make changes in the future. Please take an extra minute to complete this short survey HERE
