7 Steps to a Safer Sex Life.

In the last couple of days, we talked about Sexually Transmitted Diseases and how they can damage your immune system without knowing since you may not show signs and symptoms until permanent damage has occurred.

Yes, it’s normal to worry about catching something while having sex, but the steps you take to practice a safer sex life might definitely save you from any sexually transmitted disease nightmare. Here are the steps you can take to a safer sex life.

1.Be selective when choosing a sex partner.

If you are practicing abtinance, have your self and partner tested because it will be crazy to wait to have sex to later find out the person you were saving for actually give an STD ( sexually transmitted disease)

Have sex with only a partner that makes you feel safe about your health concerns. Someone who loves you would want to have the same goals.

2. Limit the number of sex partner.

It’s definitely not my place to tell you how many partners you want to have sex with, but I can tell that it is safest to have sex with only one person who is having sex with only you.

3 And if you do have multiple partners, protect yourself.

Use latex condoms every time when having sex.

Be mindful to use water-based lubricant because oil based can damage your condoms which put you at risk of contracting STDs.

4. Talk to your partners about sex.

If you’re gonna be in bed with someone, I’m sure it’s necessary to be comfortable about expressing your concerns and desires.

Be direct about your sexual needs and each other sexual health concerns/history

5. Get tested. Get in the habit.

Have an annual physical exam. For ladies (pap test, pelvic exam ect)

Have a check-up for STDs at least once a year and avoid using IV drugs

6. Be responsible.

If you think that you have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection, go to your primary care doctor or health department and urge your partner to get tested at the same time.

Take all the medication that is prescribed to you and you only. Do not take medications that are not yours and don’t share yours.

Practice abtinance while on medication until you and your partner considered to be cured.

7.Stay in charge.

Having good judgment can save you. Don’t have sex if your partner appears to apparent signs of STIs

Don’t let alcohol jeopardize your judgement specially if you’re not in a good environment. Some people just don’t respect other’s bodies.

Please, don’t let embarrassment become a health risk.

There is no shame in talking about sex. Some people may find it shameful and don’t want to share the information with their healthcare provider. ( Your answer is safe with them). And if you feel uncomfortable with a doctor, you have the right to choose another that put you at ease. Speak openly and frankly with your doctor and take charge of your health.

When you and partner don’t have to worry about STDs, sex will be more enjoyable.

Until next time darlings 💛.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Know the facts

Sexually Transmitted Disease. Know the facts

Nobody is immune to STD. I mean nobody!!! People with STDs usually have no symptoms.

Tons of people will not know if they are infected until permanent damage has occurred. While it is absolutely normal to enjoy sex, there are more than 30 STDs ( sexually transmitted diseases) you can contract and they are very unpleasant. STDs can cause things like open sores on your genitals which increase the chance of contracting more STDs because your body is immunocompromised.

Now, most STDs can be very serious, but there are some that are not. ( I’m not telling you to ignore them!🧐). Ex: something you can treat with over the counter drugs (crabs) or something that can actually kill you (syphilis).

If you think you or partner may have contracted an STD, please be mindful and seek help. You may still be infected even though the symptoms are gone.
Now, I know a lot of you have “EGO ISSUES” 🥴🙄 and will get offended when your partner ask you to get screened and it’s true🤷🏽‍♀️.
Sweep your ego right under that rug and go to that clinic to get yourself checked at least once a year. Remember, not having any symptoms is irrelevant.

If you or partner have any of these symptoms listed below, see a clinician right away.

1. Abnormal or smelly discharge from the vagina or penis. Gonorrhea for instance cause a green or yellow discharge, burning urination, pelvic pain and can cause premature labor and stillbirth as a result.
2. Blisters: Like herpes. Herpes usually associated with cold sore or fever blister and both forms may be sexually transmitted. (FYI: that is one reason not to let anyone kiss your babies)
3. Tenderness
4. Itches
5. Growths: Small pinkish-white, waxy-looking growth in the genital area or the tights
6. Chancres: Usually located on the genitals that doesn’t heal like a regular pimple.
7. Swellings.
8. Bleeding: Many of the STDs can cause tinged with blood in vaginal discharge or swelling of the groin.
9. Warts: Not always visible, grow on the genitals, anus, urethra and throat. They often itch and can lead to cancer of cervix, penis or vulva.

This is just a fraction of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and I promise to share more with you.

Let’s just say, I got your attention on how many STDs you can contract; why can’t you protect yourself or get tested?
Let me ask you this: Are you sexual active? Do you worry about catching something during sex? If the answer is YES; You have absolutely the right to worry. The most important question is: Do you know how to avoid getting one?

Here are my suggestions:

– Be selective when choosing a sex partner.
– Talk to your partner. It’s important to talk with your partner about STIs and practicing safe sex before you have sex.

– Get tested.
– Have less sexual partners.

– If you do have sex with more than one person, then protect yourself.
– Be responsible and take charge.
– If you notice any signs and symptoms, see a clinician.
I hope you guys learn something today. Please stay posted for much detailed information about each specific sexually transmitted disease.
Protect yourself!!!
Untill next time  ..
