Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood through adulthood. It impacts how you think and cope with your daily activities or stress. Therefore, it is extremely important that you spend time and energy to get help when you need it. Our guest Samantha White has the best explanation on why this is important.
Please tell us about yourself and what you do in the community to tackle mental illnesses?
Hi! My name is Samantha White. I am a certified professional life coach and I also have a Masters Degree in Child Developmental Psychology. I am an avid contact for mental health. My business Consult Positivity offers sessions where people of all ages can get help with any of their mental, emotional and financial needs. We also spread positivity daily through all of our social media.
Mental illness is a taboo for many of us. So, at what point you encourage an individual to see a professional counselor?
I encourage individuals to see a professional counselor depending on their current mental state. If we both feel comfortable with the sessions and they are honestly making progress, then we can continue to help them. However, if their mental illness is getting worse I would advise them to seek mental counsel. I would also refer them to a mental counselor that would best suit their personality.
Many schools are now adding mental health counseling on their campuses? Do you think there’s a mental crisis among students? If so, how can we address it?
As a mental health advocate, have you been in a position where you feel the need to see a counselor?
Do you always have an intended goal for your clients besides them having their own?
If you were the leader in charge of the National Mental Health Institute, what are the changes would you immediately put into effect?
My goal for every client that I assist is for them to be the best that they can be. I help my clients strive for their best mental, emotional, and financial state that they can have at this present moment. As time goes on we make new goals and all of these small goals have one big goal in mind to be the best they can be at this current time. No one can be perfect because perfection does not exist! We must strive to be the best we can be, at this current time. A goal that is attainable is often attained.
In our one-on-one sessions, we focus on your mental well-being. We allow you to have a nonjudgemental time to speak on your mindset. This includes but is not limited to any thoughts, fears, regrets, or decision. After you express your thoughts we assist you in making an action plan to change your mindset and live better! You will have our support every step of the way!
